Buxus Boxwoods have become a landscape staple due to the exploding deer populations across the country. Deer detest boxwood, so if you need something to replace a yew (which deer LOVE), think BOXWOOD! They can be used as specimens or as anchor plants to create structure with year round interest. The ones we offer this year are especially good for the smaller garden because they are slow growing. This feature implies several years growth before they can be offered in the catalog. Two and three year old plants are still small. By the way, the unpleasant smell sometimes associated with boxwoods is found only in cultivars of Buxus sempervirens.
